Position Overview:

Head of Data Engineering – Insurance – The City, London

My client an insurance organisation, based in The City of London is looking for a Head of Data Engineering to join their Technology and Data Team. You will lead a dynamic team to deliver highly innovative data solutions with the use of cutting-edge technologies. You will be responsible for the cloud-based data engineering platform, technology roadmap, strategy, operational management and delivery of data requirements to the business. A strong technical leader, you will work closely with other data teams, namely Architecture, Data Analytics, Data Science and Data Governance to build a true data driven experience and improve business outcomes.

This role will be on a hybrid working from office and from home and offers a generous benefits package.


Experience leading Data Engineering/data delivery teams
Technical experience in designing and delivering data solutions Microsoft Azure stack; ADLS Gen2, Data Factory, Databricks, PowerBI
Expertise in handling large volumes of data and performance tuning across database platforms
Experience working on variety of data ingestion and presentation aprpoaches, Batch, SQL, API, event streaming and data mesh patters
Experience working on delivering data solutions for analytics, as well as Data Science purposes
Experience in using Agile methodologies and DevOps processes
Experience of managing third party supplier relationships with outsource arrangements.
Has the authority and skill to establish good working relationships and influence decisions at the most senior levels within the company.
Team player who is adaptable, understands the organisational needs and is able to manage and motivate a team comprised of individuals with diverse skills and differing needs.
Will have the necessary negotiation and facilitation skills to challenge where appropriate but to strive to reach decisions that are acceptable to all parties
